PENSKE-TAYLOR RACING TEAM DRIVERS MAY VARY IN ROLEX 24 EXPERIENCE
-But Desire To Excel Is A Definite Common Bond Between Competitors Busch, Castroneves & Briscoe-
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2008) – While the trio of Penske-Taylor Racing Team drivers may be entering this weekend’s Rolex 24 endurance racing classic armed with various degrees of experience, their desire to excel is a definite common bond between them.
The all-star lineup of 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Kurt Busch, two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves and open-wheel and sports-car veteran Ryan Briscoe have enjoyed more than their fair share of fame and success in other forms of racing. They are hoping to achieve that same top level of accomplishment this weekend at Daytona International Speedway as they share driving duties behind the wheel of their No. 9 Toshiba Pontiac Riley.
“I’m definitely the least experienced at this type of racing,” said Busch, who will be making his second career Rolex 24 appearance this weekend, after competing with Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle and Scott Maxwell in the 2005 edition of the race. “It’ll be a fun race and teaming up with Helio and Ryan will be a thrill and something I’ll remember for years to come.
“I joked with the media back during the testing (Jan. 4-6) that my experience relative to this type of racing would be the ’24 Hours of Pocono’ that we run twice a year in our Cup cars,” Busch said, admitting that he borrowed the humorous line from his friend Kenseth. “That race is so long. It’s 500 miles of flat-track-type racing and it seems like it takes forever. You have to get in your groove, hit your marks and make sure you protect your car.

GRAND-AM TEST A HUGE SUCCESS FOR PENSKE-TAYLOR RACING TEAM
-More Benefits Than Just Rolex 24 Preparation For Drivers Busch, Castroneves & Briscoe-
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 9, 2008) – The three days of testing last weekend at Daytona International Speedway in advance of the Jan. 26-27 Rolex 24 proved to be much more beneficial for the Penske-Taylor Racing Team than one might expect.
The all-star lineup of 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Kurt Busch, two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves and open-wheel and sports-car veteran Ryan Briscoe shared time behind the wheel of their No. 9 Toshiba Pontiac Riley and were credited with turning in the second-fastest overall time during the three-day, eight session test period. But the drivers and crew members alike agreed that it was much more than just getting prepared for the upcoming 46th edition of the twice-around-the-clock challenge.
This year’s Rolex 24 will mark Busch’s second entry into the prestigious sports car racing classic and he was eager to get back in the driver’s seat during last weekend’s test session.
“I raced in the Rolex 24 back in 2005 and it was a thrill to get back out there behind the wheel of our Toshiba Pontiac Riley,” said Busch, who is starting his third season driving the Miller Lite Dodge in NASCAR Sprint Cup competition. “The timing for the test was a big bonus for me. Eva and I had been vacationing in the Caribbean for a week and I flew directly back in for the test on Saturday morning.
“It allowed me to put the vacation days behind and get acclimated to being back at the race track,” added Busch. “The fact that Cup testing started on Monday and I was already there at Daytona in a race car on Saturday was a huge benefit from a big-picture standpoint.”

PENSKE-TAYLOR TEAM SCORES PODIUM FINISH IN ROLEX 24
-All-Star Trio Of Busch, Castroneves & Briscoe Bring Toshiba Pontiac Riley Home Third-
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 26-27) – There is a long-standing motto associated with Penske Racing and that is “Effort Equals Results.” Perhaps there is no better example of that slogan being demonstrated than in the team effort that produced an impressive podium finish for Penske Racing drivers Kurt Busch, Helio Castroneves & Ryan Briscoe in this weekend’s Rolex 24 Grand-Am race at Daytona International Speedway.
Briscoe was behind the wheel of the Penske-Taylor Racing No. 9 Toshiba Pontiac Riley when it crossed the line third and came to rest on pit road in today’s 46th edition of the famed road racing endurance classic. The celebrating crew members, along with Busch and Castroneves swarmed around the podium-finishing ride. Tim Cindric, President of Penske Performance, Inc., who manned the radio for this weekend’s incredible effort, huddled his trio of drivers together by the car.
“When we talked about doing this race several months ago, it was all about us as a team,” Cindric was heard telling his group of driving stars. “When we came down here a couple of weeks back to test, it was all about teamwork. We really showed them what teamwork is all about. I’m telling you that Roger and everyone associated with Penske Racing are so proud of you guys. To be able to come in here like we did and get a podium finish is pretty impressive and is such a tremendous example of our team – all of our different racing units – working together as one.”
With Busch carrying the banner for Penske’s NASCAR teams, Castroneves representing Penske’s IndyCar efforts and Briscoe bringing his American Le Mans credentials to the table, there lies overwhelming evidence that legendary race team owner Roger Penske made a brilliant move when he headquartered all of his racing teams under one roof in Mooresville, N.C.
